Designed as a portable HF/6m transceiver that utilizes the design excellence and body of the very successful IC-706 series, Icom's new QRP rig is ideal for the shack, mobile DX'ing and for field use. Similar to an IC-706MKIIG without the VHF and UHF bands, this rig is capable of 5W @ 9.6VDC and 10W @ 13.8VDC (depending on power supply). It has low consumption circuit design to maximize battery life and a built-in automatic antenna tuner.

This new rig is great for the HAM who requires a convenient portable HF unit. It's also excellent for long distance communications in remote mountainous or desert areas (where effective communications are not readily available) and is perfect as a communications solution for specialized applications.
